As your local Ancoats Labour Councillors, we’ve been fighting for more and better green space in Ancoats and, in particular, on Central Retail Park. The plans previously lacked green space and that is why we opposed them. Following our actions, new plans have now come forward which includes more green space on Central Retail Park.

Manchester Council purchased Central Retail Park to ensure the area would be developed positively for Ancoats and the City. The Council borrowed £37 Million to do this and therefore that money does need to be paid back. With the plans including 10,000 Government jobs and 24/7 publicly accessible green space, we’re delighted the plans include more green space and we want to make sure that this is fixed and we continue to see high quality green spaces and parks come forward in new developments in the future.
